Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 3+ years of experience in non-profit working in tech policy
- Strong writing and public speaking skills
- Notable relationship-building skills
- An understanding of Florida politics and public policy
- Commitment to the principles of limited government and free markets.

Responsibilities
- Lead the Technology and Innovation Policy Center
- Establish JMI’s policy priorities on an annual basis for the Center, and work in coordination with other policy staffers and JMI’s VP of Policy.
- Oversee plan of action on technology and innovation policy priorities to ensure maximum impact.
- Serve as the lead on the research, development, and distribution of academic research, policy papers, issue briefs, and other content within the purview of the Center.
- Provide expertise and possible testimony for elected officials, staff, and media.
- Write and draft op-ed columns and edit columns drafted by others.
- Attend specific tech and innovation policy events around the country.
- Comfortable with public speaking events, serving as an authority on state and national issues.
- Serve as the lead on the execution of at the Tech & Innovation Summit held every year, in concert with JMI’s Events and Logistics manager
- Work with policy staff colleagues to coordinate the policy calendar concerning the release dates for publications and concerning the Institute’s participation in policy-related events ranging from national and state conferences and speaking opportunities for JMI staff members to JMI-sponsored events.
- Work with policy staff and communications staff concerning media outreach, including magazines, newspaper editorial boards, TV, radio, and social media.
- Consult with JMI grants manager to assist with funding opportunities and grant proposals, especially those that advance funding specific to the Center.
- Work in coordination with Development Director and major gifts officer to identify and execute tailored fundraising opportunities for new and existing JMI members.
- When appropriate, attend fundraising meetings with JMI CEO.
- Perform other policy-related tasks as needed.
