Lead Business Applications Administrator

Description

The Mercatus Center is seeking a Lead Business Applications Administrator to support our mission by leading the Applications team to provide innovative solutions, support, and maintenance for the Salesforce NPSP platform and integrated solutions and other business applications.

Role Responsibilities

  • Supervision
    • Supervise the business applications Salesforce team members
    • Provide training and development opportunities for team members
    • Provide vision and goals to team members
  • Maintenance
    • Maintain approved/pre-existing end user business processes within Salesforce and related systems
    • Keep Salesforce and related systems up to date, secure and data cleaned
    • Improve current status of system with application and platform updates, new security measures, and data hygiene routines
    • Review error logs and exception reporting to ensure all systems are functioning normally, troubleshooting or reviewing issues to look for patterns and potential requirements for updates to automation rules
    • Complete all employee onboarding and offboarding
    • Work with Applications Manager to establish a schedule for refreshing the sandboxes and providing access to the team
    • Stay current on Salesforce and related application best practices
  • Support
    • Responsible for all incoming tickets, assigning tickets to team members or escalating as the situation requires. Provide tier-1 and tier-2 support and document resolutions for all issues
    • Work with Apps manager to train Apps team on new support issues or new processes that require support
    • Escalate issues to vendors when internal resources are unable to resolve the issue in a timely manner or as internal resources are needed for other tasks
    • Provide and create training for end users to improve system adoption and reduce common tickets
    • Create and update data flow schematics to track, investigate and troubleshoot issues
    • Work with Apps manager to create an SLA, monitor breaches and make adjustments to workflow or SLA as required
  • Projects
    • Collaborate closely with Applications Manager, business teams, and Information Technology to understand requirements and use cases; research solution options; propose solutions; review proposed designs with business teams to encourage feedback and challenge status quo to drive to a more robust solution
    • Following the SDLC process and in collaboration with Applications team members, provide hands-on customization and optimization of Salesforce to meet the needs of users (e.g., customization of objects, triggers, workflow rules)
    • Gather, document, execute, test, and deploy detailed specifications from high-level requirements with minimal supervision
  • Development
    • Continually build knowledge of new Salesforce (and related applications) features, releases, and functionality to make recommendations for system enhancements

Qualifications

  • 1.5+ years as a Salesforce Administrator
  • 1+ year designing and administering solutions on the SFDC platform
  • Demonstrated ability to lead team members as a servant leader
  • Experience training team and users; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information that informs of changes, issues, and new features to facilitate understanding and improved adoption of the systems used at Mercatus
  • Ability to investigate issues using research, documentation, and understanding of system to resolve software-related issues
  • Ability to migrate data between systems
  • Excellent organization and prioritization of tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of the Mercatus Center’s mission
  • Experience in FinancialForce, Salesforce NPSP, and/or JIRA is a plus
  • Experience coordinating projects is a plus
  • Business analyst experience is a plus
