The purpose of the Public Policy Foundation of West Virginia is to identify issues of importance to the State of West Virginia and bring together scholars and other experts from around the State and the Nation to seek solutions in a collaborative and cooperative environment. The organization is governed by an independent Board of Trustees and is a nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Unlike institutionally based research centers, the PPF seeks to build capacity by engaging scholars and researchers from throughout West Virginia and the country. Currently, our research team includes scholars from West Virginia University, Marshall University, West Liberty University, University of South Carolina – Beaufort, University of Tennessee, Ball State University and Muskingum University. Our research team also includes a number of research fellows who provide vast amounts of experience and expertise generated from their careers in the public, nonprofit and private sectors.
In addition, members of the PPF research team have provided expert testimony before Congress and legislatures in a number of states on such issues as tax reform, budget, education, energy, health care, government organization and operation and economic development.
