Pioneer Institute’s current priorities include preparing for the US Supreme Court’s Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue decision to ensure that Massachusetts families can take advantage of new opportunities for increased access to school choice (in the event of a ruling that ends the Blaine amendments). Pioneer is also resuming its campaign against a legislatively driven graduated income tax that would undo Massachusetts’ constitutional provisions requiring a flat tax. Finally, Pioneer is working to ensure renewal of an oversight board to review the operations and finances of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), Boston’s public transit system.
