Platte Institute launches webinar series

Most years, the spring and summer months mean the Platte Institute team will be traveling throughout Nebraska, visiting with supporters and holding public events like town hall programs and the annual Legislative Summit.

But in response to the directed health measures, the Platte Institute has launched a new webinar program to continue keeping Nebraskans informed and engaged in the policy process.

With more than 66,000 Nebraskans filing for unemployment as of April 9, 2020, the economic impact of COVID-19 will be like unlike any recession of recent memory. State and local policymakers will need to know how these changes will impact budgets and government priorities.

That’s why the Platte Institute hosted Nebraska state Senator John Stinner, the chairman of the Legislature’s budget-writing Appropriations Committee, as its first Platte Institute Webinar guest. The program was viewed by more than 120 participants, including senators and staff from about half of the state’s legislative offices.
