Spotlight shifts to Illinois’ biggest public policy problem

For years, it was hard to get anyone to listen when Illinois Policy Institute tried to explain the state’s monumental pension crisis. But today, members of legacy media across the state are dialing in to the problem.

Illinois Policy’s communications team executed a strategic plan this year to share a steady stream of information about Illinois’ pension crisis with key media outlets. And that message is gaining traction. Both the Chicago Tribune and Crain’s Chicago Business editorial boards have endorsed the need for constitutional pension reform. Fox 32 Chicago’s general manager endorsed our solution in a special video, and Director of Budget and Tax Research Adam Schuster was invited to speak at the prestigious City Club of Chicago in a widely covered panel discussion on pension reform.
