Purpose:

SPN Engaged Audience Grants help groups engage their target audiences in a deeper and more meaningful way, which may include digital communication, community engagement strategies, or some innovative combination of the two, in order to arrive at their strategic goals and/or targeted policy wins. This program is intended to help groups ready and willing to take their audience engagement to an advanced level.

Eligibility:

This highly competitive program is open to select 501(c)3 organizations only by invitation of State Policy Network. One proposal from each eligible organization will be accepted.

In keeping with Internal Revenue Service rules and SPN guidelines, no grants will be approved for grassroots or direct lobbying or partisan campaign intervention. All funded activities must be 501(C)(3) compliant.

This RFP is not transferable.

Project Criteria:

SPN will consider one-year proposals to:

  • build and deploy audiences specifically with a productive organizational goal in mind;
  • increase the use of list segmentation to create a content strategy that is more responsive to what individual audience members want;
  • develop and improve community engagement programs designed to build trust in the organization;
  • develop and improve community engagement programs that prepare citizens to engage in the civic process or;
  • connect community engagement and digital audience engagement programs.

Grants could range from $25,000 to $100,000, based on available funding and the potential impact of proposed projects.

Application Process:

Proposals should be no more than four pages long and follow the template provided below.

Proposals should include:

  • an executive summary of 120 words or less that summarizes the project and its goals;
  • a clear explanation of the proposed effort and how it will engage key audiences the organization needs to reach;
  • a clear explanation of why those audiences are important to the organization’s overall strategic goals;
  • anticipated outputs and desired outcomes;
  • a top-line budget.

Mailed and emailed proposals will not be accepted.

Proposals should be submitted online to State Policy Network by Friday, April 14, 2023

SPN will administer the RFP process. An internal committee will evaluate proposals and make all award decisions. All applicants will be notified of their status by May 1, 2023.
