SPN welcomes Camille Walsh as Communications Manager

SPN is pleased to welcome Camille Walsh to the team as our new Communications Manager. In this role, Camille produces stories to highlight state think tanks’ success and facilitate the sharing of best practices and state-based policy solutions across the Network.

Camille graduated from Louisiana State University in 2012 with a degree in political science. Before joining SPN, Camille spent five years on the media team at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

Camille’s Story

“More and more people today look to the federal government for answers to our problems, but the answer lies with communities, not Washington DC. I’m excited and grateful to join an organization fighting to spread that message and advance freedom in the states.”—Camille Walsh

During my senior year of college, my parents encouraged me to apply for an internship with Ron Paul’s Louisiana campaign. Ron Paul introduced me to the ideas of free markets and limited government. I was hooked and knew I wanted to turn this into a career. Shortly after, I joined Young Americans for Liberty and landed an internship with the Koch Internship Program in DC. I was placed on the media relations team at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and was offered a position after the internship ended. I spent five years at Mercatus before joining the team at State Policy Network.

The best part of working in the freedom movement is the people. It’s inspiring to work with individuals who care so strongly about free-market, limited government ideas, and principles that have made the United States the most exceptional country in the world. “America is the greatest country alive,” as my brother always says. I’m passionate about spreading the message of free enterprise and explaining how it leads to a better life for all Americans.

More and more people today look to the federal government for answers to our problems, but the answer lies with communities, not Washington DC. I’m excited and grateful to join an organization fighting to spread that message and advance freedom in the states.

Behind the Scenes

When you’re not improving the world at work, where are you likely to be found?

I love spending time with my new golden retriever puppy, Mason. And my husband of course. But he’s number two. I also like to cheer on the Saints and LSU Tigers, and visit my family in New Orleans whenever I can.
