Description

This entry-level position will assist with all aspects of the development process for The Philanthropy Roundtable to help the organization meet and exceed annual fundraising goals. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the ideal candidate will have a strong interest in development and a willingness to pitch in, help with, and learn about fundraising. The coordinator will carry the primary responsibility for donor research and execute all mailings and administrative tasks for the development department.

Responsibilities

  • Execute mail merge, printing, and assembly process of small direct mail campaigns in-house for membership prospecting and membership renewal.
  • Interact with print shops, mail house, direct mail authors, and list brokers, as needed in the preparation of direct mail for fundraising.
  • Prepare and mail grant proposals and reports.
  • Manage database records, including updating address information and the status of grant requests and membership renewals.
  • Track and report returns on all mail campaigns with little supervision.
  • Respond to new member inquiries and follow up on membership renewal requests in a professional manner.
  • Write letters, grant proposals, direct mail copy, and/or other development materials as time permits.
  • Assist with creating donor research reports.

  • Understand and support The Philanthropy Roundtable’s mission and vision.
  • Comfortable working in a predominantly ideologically conservative environment.
  • Superior attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Exceptional at prioritizing multiple projects.
  • Possess excellent time management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interest in learning about development and building a fundraising career.
  • Ability to communicate and proactively collaborate with different departments of the organization.
  • High standard of honesty and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Skill Factors:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Work experience: Office experience, such as an internship or fellowship, preferred.
  • Computer: Experience working with Microsoft Office products including Excel. Experience working with databases preferred.

This position is located in downtown Washington, DC and will require some travel (approximately 5% of time for Roundtable events). All travel will be domestic.
