State Policy Network Training Helps Think Tanks Boost Their Online Presence

As state-based think tanks continue to increase their public presence in each state, communications staff at these organizations are also honing their ability to connect to key audiences. To support their professional growth in this area, State Policy Network recently co-hosted a training with the Illinois Policy Institute in their downtown Chicago office to assist think tanks in enhancing their online presence.

Led by the Illinois Policy Institute communications team, the training taught attendees how to utilize such resources as Google Grants, which provides Google advertising for nonprofits every month. Participants from 14 different states learned how to utilize this resource for their organization and better connect to citizens looking for information on state-based public policy solutions.

Attendees also learned how to analyze metrics for their website, digital marketing, and earned media. A holistic approach to an organization’s online presence means better benchmarks for measuring impact and hitting goals.

As the think tank network continues to grow, SPN and its affiliates are excited to continue innovating our communications capacity. This results in a better educated citizenry and ensures free-market public policies are well represented in public debate.
