Description

Few public policy issues have captured the attention of law makers and industry as much as the debate about online moderation of content on social media platforms. What should platforms allow their customers to say, and when? Or should platforms be forced to be open to any post of any material? Do private online platforms have 1st Amendment obligations, or does the 1st Amendment actually protect THEM against government regulation? One state has passed a law regulating content moderation while several others are considering proposals. What is the role of government and industry when it comes to what is posted online, and what about individual responsibility?

Join the Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) on August 24th to hear the thoughts of several state legislators on the role of state government in regulating online speech.

Speakers:

State Senator Bryan Hughes (TX)
State Representative Justin Hill (MO)
State Representative Danny Perez (FL)
