GPPF offers policy recommendations to fight COVID-19
The Georgia Public Policy Foundation adopted teleworking after closing the office on March 13, 2020 and has continued to provide policy advice, commentaries, and a weekly Friday Facts edition dedicated to COVID-19-related policy news, views, and links. Policy briefing events that had been scheduled through the first half of the year were rescheduled for online streaming instead, and Google Hangouts has facilitated the Foundation’s “inter-office” communications, with a twice-a-week video conference.
Chris Denson, a native of Douglasville, Georgia, joined the Foundation at the beginning of March as Director of Policy and Research. His background includes almost a decade working in the healthcare arena. His expertise was an immediate advantage as the Foundation developed sensible near-term policy recommendations to cope with the coronavirus after the Georgia Legislature suspended its session, public schools closed through the end of the year, and the Governor declared a public health state of emergency and issued a shelter-at-home order.
