Tracie Sharp Remembers Open The Books CEO Adam Andrzejewski

State Policy Network President and CEO Tracie Sharp during the Roe Award dinner at State Policy Network Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday remembered the life and legacy of the late Adam Andrzejewski.

As CEO of Open The Books, Adam fought to create more transparency around public expenditures at the local, state, and federal level, eventually creating an online portal available to the public.

Adam was a longtime partner to State Policy Network; an avid runner; beloved husband to wife Kerry; father to Ellie, Molly and Emma; and a lector at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Illinois. Read his obituary here.

Here are Tracie’s remarks, delivered at the Roe Award dinner, following Adam’s sudden passing:

You may have heard the slogan “Every Dime. Online. In Real Time.”

That is the mantra of Open The Books, an important ally and SPN partner since their founding in 2011.

Their talented CEO, Adam Andrzejewski, championed their invaluable government-transparency successes that benefitted so much of this Network over the years, not to mention their public service in letting Americans know how their tax dollars are spent.

So, it came as a great shock to learn of Adam’s sudden passing earlier this week at the age of 55. We extend our condolences to his wife and daughters, as well as the board and staff of Open The Books.

During his tenure, Adam built a strong, sustainable organization with a proven track record and a strong brand.

Adam passes on an inheritance of success that will continue for Open The Books, as his legacy will live on. And, for his example of powerful leadership, we are so grateful. Thank you.
