During this awards presentation, State Policy Network announced the 2020 Bob Williams Awards winners, the inaugural recipients of the Ed-Prize, and the recipients of the Network Award. Congratulations to all of our winners!
The Bob Williams Awards for Outstanding Policy Achievement celebrate state think tanks doing exceptional work to develop and disseminate credible policy research and ideas that can help states implement free-market solutions that will have national impact. The awards are named in honor of our Network’s most iconic policy maven and a friend to many, Bob Williams.
To encourage state think tanks to advance innovative education policies that will support students and families, SPN partnered with the generous Arthur N Rupe Foundation in California to launch the inaugural Ed-Prize. Open to state think tank affiliate members of SPN, Ed-Prize is designed to incentivize ambitious, innovative solutions that implement flexible learning models, drive accountability through transparency, and improve student performance in K-12 education.
Congratulations to the Alaska Policy Forum, and good luck with the launch of your Education Funding Reform Initiative. We’re excited to see Alaska’s students benefit from outcome-driven funding.
Congratulations to the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. We look forward to seeing Michigan ease restrictions to expand school choice and increase access to digital education.
This year presented a number of policy problems, perhaps most pressing of which was insuring proper access to healthcare. Thankfully, state policymakers could look to a coalition of healthcare experts: State Policy Network’s Healthcare Working Group (HCWG).
At SPN’s 28th Annual Meeting, SPN recognized the leadership and success of this Network coalition by presenting the 2020 Network Award to state think tanks from the HCWG. These organizations ensured our healthcare system was ready for the challenges brought on by the coronavirus:
Congratulations to all seven of these organizations, and the entire HCGW, for their exceptional work on expanding healthcare supply and access at a time when people need it the most.
