5 things to know about SPN’s 28th Annual Meeting
Registration for SPN’s 28th Annual Meeting is now open! As you’re making your 2020 plans, here are five things to know about the Network’s most anticipated event of the year:
1. SPN’s 28th Annual Meeting is taking place
in Chicago, Illinois.
From August 31-September 3, 2020, 1,300 attendees representing state-based
and state focused organizations from all 50 states will gather on Chicago’s
Magnificent Mile to be inspired and discover state-based solutions for
addressing the needs and challenges that communities, families, and individuals
are facing. Plus, there will be several networking opportunities to connect
with peers, mentors, and policy and professional experts.
2. It will be your best Monday of the year.
It’s hard to lack Monday motivation when you’re surrounded by hundreds of fellow champions for freedom, all passionate about increasing opportunity and quality of life in their states. Plan your travel accordingly: SPN’s 28th Annual Meeting kicks off on Monday, August 31, and concludes on Thursday, September 3. Better yet—arrive during the weekend and have some fun in Chicago before the conference begins.
3. The plenary sessions feature an all-star lineup.
SPN’s Annual Meeting plenary stage will feature Jonah Berger, best-selling author of Contagious: Why Things Catch On, Deanne Turner of Chick-fil-A, and a must-see interview with John J. Miller, who considered to be “one of the best literary journalists in the country,” and best-selling author and journalist Bob Drury. They’ll inspire and challenge us to think differently and boldly about how to advance ideas, build great organizations and teams, and look to the past for powerful lessons in leadership.
4. Scholarships are available for young professionals.
Young professionals interested in attending SPN’s Annual Meeting may be
eligible for SPN’s
Generation Liberty Fellowship. The Fellowship is more than just a
scholarship. In addition to covering the costs of Annual Meeting registration,
accommodations, travel, and a small stipend, the Fellowship includes exclusive professional
development sessions and networking opportunities to support participants’
career advancement.
5. Even more celebrations are planned.
Some of the most anticipated sessions at SPN’s Annual Meeting are the Bob Williams Awards, which recognize significant state think tank wins, research, and initiatives, and the Thomas A. Roe Award presentation, which honors a leader who has greatly advanced free-market philosophy and policy solutions. This year, we’ll be celebrating even more accomplishments with the new SPN Communications Excellence Awards.
