Polling Spotlight: Majority of Montana parents support school choice

It’s been almost a year since the coronavirus upended our nation’s education system. Millions of children were sent home for remote learning, and parents had to shift much of their lives to accommodate these sudden changes. How are Montana’s parents responding to this disruption in education?

New polling from Cor Services Inc. shows a growing desire among Montana parents for more choice in education options.

Before the pandemic, only 15.5 percent of Montana parents thought their children were behind academically. Now, that number has climbed to 40.3 percent.

In response to these academic concerns, 34 percent of parents would consider pursuing another education option. Additionally, a majority of Montana’s parents support expanding school choice programs.
